Yes, I know it's August. But last week it felt like Christmas in July!
I've been seriously talking about getting a DSLR camera now for months. I've always loved taking pictures, and both of my old point and shoot Cannons have seen better days. Mainly, I've been documenting my life for this blog with my iPhone. My phone takes surprisingly good pictures, but I was ready to learn more about photography and I wanted to have beautiful images for my blog.
After doing some research, I decided that the Nikon D3100 would be the best camera for me. It was in my price range, had excellent reviews, and my Dad is a long-time Nikon user. I knew it would be a quality camera for me to learn on, and would last a long time.
Andrew found a great deal online that included not only the camera, but an extra lens and camera bag as well. I wanted to be able to bring the new camera to Yosemite and have time to practice shooting with it before our trip to Cabo. But when I went to purchase it, they were sold out. I decided it wasn't meant to be, and I would just have to wait before getting a new camera.
But to my surprise, a couple weeks ago I received an email from Andrew with an Amazon receipt. He had found an even better deal and surprised me with the camera! He even expedited the shipping so I would have it in time for our camping trip! It was the sweetest surprise!
Now, I just need to learn how to use the thing! I played around with the settings on our trip, but there is SO much to learn. If any of you have recommendations for books, online tutorials, or any beginner photography suggestions, I'm all ears. I would love to be able to shoot manually and get the most out of our new camera. Hopefully you'll start seeing an improvement in my photography very soon!
Thank you, Andrew! Best surprise ever :)
