Pink One-Shoulder Dress

Happy Friday my friends! This has been a busy week at work, I'm so ready for a few days away from the office! Our weekend is fully booked with fun activities, so that will be a nice break from my computer screen. As you might have noticed, I'm still getting back into the groove of blogging regularly. I'm working on creating a blog 'work' schedule that will allow me to post consistently on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

And as I mentioned a few weeks ago, on Friday's I'm going to be focusing on style posts. I'm really excited because it's always been something I wanted to do, but I was nervous and too worried what people would think. The older I get the less I care about that, and the more I want to do things that make me happy! I might not be the size I want or the most fashionable, but I love putting together outfits on a budget. And hopefully I can help inspire others to wear what makes them feel their best, and how to find the styles they love at more affordable prices.

I found this cute pink dress at Nordstrom for less than $50 and thought it would be perfect for summer (it also comes in blue)! It's wedding season and I have a few bridal showers, bachelorette parties and fun events to attend this summer. Plus, it will be fun for our trip to Hawaii too! I paired it with my new basket clutch and lace up block heels {currently on sale}. The shoes are so comfortable, I know I'll be wearing them all summer long. The block heel is easy to walk in. I was worried the laces would bother me, but they're surprisingly comfortable and don't loosen when you walk.

For these photos, I worked with the wonderfully talented Stephanie Court Photography. She was one of the first bloggers I met back when I started From Foothills to Fog in 2013. We went to a blogger meet up in the city and have kept in touch since. She even photographed two of my friends weddings! I'm so excited to partner with her for more outfit posts on the blog, we have some fun ideas in the works. If you know of anyone in the Bay Area looking for a photographer, be sure to check her out.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Scenes From San Francisco

One of my favorite things to do on a casual weekend when we're here in the city is take urban "hikes" around different neighborhoods. If I had to choose one thing, the architecture might just be my favorite thing about San Francisco. Our city looks unlike any other in the world. I love the beautiful homes with bay windows and colorful facades. Each neighborhood has it's own unique and charming style.

I snapped these photos one afternoon when we were walking around the Marina, and they're some of my favorite. I'd love to spend time wandering around other neighborhoods to work on my photography and have more photos of my favorite city. Who knows, maybe if I get good enough, I'll open a shop to sell a few prints.

I've been wanting to re-decorate our house lately, I haven't done much of anything in the 5 years we have lived here. I thought it would be fun to create a San Francisco gallery wall, either in our bedroom or perhaps the dining room that has had bare walls since I moved in. In addition to photos, I have old blue prints from the San Francisco Library and a black and white sketch of the city by a local artist that I would like to have framed. I think a San Francisco theme gallery wall would make a great conversation starter, and even when we no longer live in the city, we can display it to represent the place we built our foundation.

Summer Style Wish List

Summer Style Wish List

I was supposed to be heading down to see Chris Stapleton perform tonight with my sister in law. We've been planning our girls night out for months and I was SO excited, but sadly Chris had to postpone a number of concerts. I'm crossing my fingers that the show isn't rescheduled for when we'll be in Hawaii next month. But not to miss an opportunity for a little SIL time, we'll be having drinks here in the city after work, in place of beer and country music.

With our trip to Oahu and Kauai around the corner, I've been spending an embarrassing amount of time browsing online for new outfits. In addition to the usual beach wear one would buy before a tropical vacation, I'm also looking for a formal dress to wear to my friends wedding and a fun white outfit for the "white party" the night guests arrive. I've gone down the rabbit hole of online shopping, that's for sure!

And while I've been searching, of course I found a few other pieces I had to add to my summer wish list. I'm loving the off the shoulder tops, maxi dresses, and floral patterns.

Although my wish list is long, I'm trying to be mindful of the pieces I actually buy. I'd like to create more of a capsule (I use that term loosely) wardrobe. Investing in classic pieces I can mix and match, then throw in a few fun pops of color and pattern seasonally. I'm also working on becoming more healthy and fit, so I don't want to invest in a lot of expensive clothing right now.

What are your favorite summer styles? Have you been adding pieces to your wardrobe with all the great sales lately?

I hope you all have a great weekend!
