A HOT Summer Wedding

Hello friends. How was your weekend? Mine seemed to fly by, as usual. The weekends just keep coming and going. It's true what they say, the older you get, the faster the time goes.

Nick and Nicole's Engagement Pictures

My weekend was really nice. It was so great to be home and see some old friends. There's something so comforting about home.  Surprisingly we didn't hit any traffic on the drive up, and made it to Auburn in just a few hours. We stopped for dinner at a little Mexican restaurant called, Cafe Delicious, then headed up the hill to my parents house.

Saturday morning we were up early. We had a quick breakfast, then Andrew and my Dad were out the door to go rock climbing for a few hours. I was in desperate need of a haircut and color, so my mom and I headed to town where she dropped me off for a hair appointment. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the door and found the bride and her bridesmaids getting their hair and makeup done. I've been friends with these girls most of my life, so it was fun to be able to watch them get ready for Nicole's big day while I got my hair done. One of my best friends, Christie, does my hair. So it's always so fun to catch up with her for a few hours. Before I moved, we spent a lot of time together, but now it seems like I only see her at the salon :( I love hearing about her 2 year old son, and baby on the way!

After my hair appointment, my mom and I rushed home so I could finish getting ready for the wedding that started at 3:00pm. We had to leave the house about 1:30 to meet our friends we were driving with, and so I was running around with mascara in one hand and a curling iron in the other. Luckily we were out the door just in time. Then, being the genius that I am, right when I got in the car I grabbed my chapstick like I always do. Not thinking about the fact that it was over 100* outside. Melted chapstick covered both me, and my dress. But it was too late to do anything about it. We used some napkins in the car to try and clean it off, but there was a huge grease stain. And of course it stained the exact spot there were no flowers to camouflage it. Thankfully, when I got home I used some Dawn dish soap and it came out for the most part.

Even with the chapstick fiasco, we got to the wedding venue with plenty of time to spare. The wedding was so beautiful. But it was HOT, 103* to be exact. The ceremony was outside in the direct sun, so it was pretty intense. I actually stood to the side in the shade of a tree at the very end. Once the ceremony ended, we headed to the bar for a drink to cool down. Thankfully, the buildings had air conditioning. The venue was nice, it was an old log cabin and Nicole chose really cute country decor using burlap and wildflowers. It fit the bride and groom perfectly. The bar area was separate, and there were actually pub games like pool, foosball, and shuffle board. Andrew and a few of the guys posted up playing shuffle board for the night, and the girls hit the dance floor while the live band played.

It was so wonderful to see so many old friends. Nick and Nicole have been together for over 10 years, and have an adorable son. They've been through a lot and are such a sweet couple. It was so fun to see them so happy, enjoying their wedding day with family and friends.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Paskey! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!

Here are a few pictures from the wedding...

And a collection from Instagram. There was a cute sign that said to use #paskeywedding as the hashtag for all pictures guests posted from the wedding!

So sorry to hear about the chapstick fiasco, but glad that you got the stain out once you got home. That's such a bummer. But you still looked gorgeous!
